Drew Lane

Drew Lane is an accomplished artist from the Butterfly Music family with products such as Love, Faith, Hope and the more recently released We Are One which both feature songs written for classroom prayer, liturgy and masses for children.

Drew is a talented composer, owner of Captivation Musicals and Performing Arts teacher at St Peter’s School, East Bentleigh Victoria where he composes and produces original musicals with powerful commentary on contemporary issues, including Disconnected, The Tree Of Life, and Somewhere To Fight For.

I was introduced to Drew by the legendary Andrew Chinn. I sought advice from Andrew after attending his concert and subsequent teacher’s workshop at Mother Teresa’s School in Ormeau. I shared with Andrew my disappointment of my first recording attempt of the Great Joy album. He generously put me in touch with his fellow butterfly Drew Lane.

After I shared my story with Drew, it became glaringly obvious that I had no idea what I was doing. Trusting in the music we agreed to start from scratch. From his home studio Drew used fresh recordings of me and my guitar and used his magical fingers on keys, keen sense of rhythm on drums and added bass along with a variety of other instruments as the tracks demanded. A quick trip to sunny Queensland to record St Joseph’s Music Ministry and some Queensland hospitality, gave Drew the remaining material he needed to mix the tracks ready for mastering.
